From the Artist’s Perspective

Up to this point, all of the articles on this blog have been about marketing.  I may post more about that in the future, but for now, my focus is on my path as an artist.

I was encouraged to pursue art from a young age.  But as I approached college graduation, reality set in when I discovered that without a patron, it’s nearly impossible to make a living as an artist.

After completing a degree in journalism, I spent 35 years working in electronic media and marketing with very little focus on art.  It has come to a time in my life when I have time for and can no longer ignore my desire to create art.

Realistically, I’m a 2-D artist.  I work in collage, drawing, painting, pastel and printmaking.  The work that I will share on this website will likely be in one of those categories.

Enjoy! Mary Lou Olds

Emblem of Honor post

This watercolor mono-print is entitled Emblem of Honor.  It was based on bronze veteran’s plaques posted next to gravesites at our local cemetary.  Copywrite Mary Lou Olds 2015
